Students From Dr. Monahan's Class Participate in Mass Casualty Drill

Students from Dr. Kathleen Monahan’s, “Therapeutic Interventions with Trauma” class participated in the Stony Brook University/ Suffolk& Nassau County Mass Casualty Drill on April 18, as part of the Disaster Mental Health response.  The Mass Casualty Drill (a mock active shooter situation),  included over 30 ambulance corps, hospital staff, community responders, as well as hundreds of volunteers.

This is the second year School of Social Welfare students participated as counselors to the “family members of victims”, as well as assist the professionals with training for a Family Resource Center that would be activated during an actual crisis.
